As the motor idles the exhaust gas temperatures subside and the visible steam practically disappears. Maybe you just didnt notice before.
The water pumps really well no issue there.
Water coming out of exhaust on mercury outboard. Nov 29 2012 2000 Mercury Mystique 2 helpful 1 answer Over heating and steam coming out of exhaust manifold. No milky oil on dipstick. Sounds like blown head gasket or cracked head allowing coolant into exhaust ports.
No water in the oil just means it didnt affect water getting into the oil. Water is injected into the exhaust above the relief ports so there should always be some spray coming out of them. Maybe you just didnt notice before.
Exhaust and water leaking into lower cowl on my 1997 Mercury Force 50 0E27xxxx. Motor runs rough with upper cowl on and runs good but loud with the upper cowl off. Suspect that exhaust gas is circulating forward into fresh air carb throat when the cover is on.
Also water spilling and accumulating in the bottom of the engine cowl. Water coming out of the exhaust port above the water telltale. It is not steam.
Tilt motor up and it disappears tilt motor all the way down and water sputters out. I did change the muffler filter during the service installed with a new rubber gasket wondered if I should have used a sealant of the gasket. The water pumps really well no issue there.
Hi The water always comes out through the exhaust whether it be through the exhaust holes at the back of the motor or the prop. The cooling comes out through the exhaust as an exit point and for cooling the exhaust. The exhaust housing leg normally fills with water around the exhaust tube or inner housing depending on design.
This is done by design to help cool the exhaust and act as a muffler. Normally however the water will exit through the lower end along with the exhaust. Safely run the engine with the boat in the water.
Advance the throttle above 1500 rpm. Vary the throttle every 15 minutes. Do NOT exceed 34 throttle during the first 10 hours.
Check your exhaust manifolds and risers for any water leakage. How many hours should an outboard motor last. Where did the water exit.
1 thru-prop exhaust - you should see water coming out with the exhaust through the prop 2 thru-prop exhaust with bad exhaust bellow - water comes out of the transom assembly where the drive hinges up when trimmed or tilted 3 thru-hull exhaust - water comes out with exhaust or through water dumps. Approximately 2 to 3 mins after start up water stops coming out of the tell tale hole and exhaust gasses come out. The engine then seems to be on its way to over heating and gets very hot at which point I have stooped it running before I do any real damage to it.
I have had the power head off and replaced this gasket. 341287341288 The lower ex tube seal missing will only cause the mid have less water in it around the tuner. Is any warm water coming out the prop hub with the.
Since water accompanies exhaust and somewhere in the engine is a cavity that has residual water after the engine is stopped then you get both till the stored water is exhausted. I wouldnt worry about it given what all you said about your engineCount sheep instead of worrying about nothing when trying to go to sleep. Many exhaust elbows have several small holes in the area where the raw-water enters the exhaust pipe.
These orifices are designed to ensure proper water distribution at this point. Unfortunately because of their small diameter they tend to be clogged with the rust particles that a raw-water. If tell-tale is weak and lots of water is going out the exhaust then you probably have a pressure valve stuck open.
If water is only mistingspitting out of your back port. Steam in the exhaust indicates that water has entered the combustion cylinders. Step 5 Use a socket to remove the single or multiple spark plugs on your engine.
Look carefully at the electrodes on the plug tips. Especially if after you have run the outboard and it drips black oil not to be mistaken for gear oil or snot fuel blended with water dripping from the lower or out the exhaust ports. You can tell by the smell.
Gear oil has a distinct rotten egg smell. Crankcase oil or unburnt fuel mixed with exhaust smells like gas. There are tons of assumptions out there but I have not found one which says this is the problem of the air bubbles and this is the remediation and when done it is cured.
People specifically with yamaha F2XX series claim it is exhaust corrosionThere are Suzuki and Mercury and Honda which have the symptoms too. Water not coming out of pee hole. 50 horse tiller Yamaha 4 stroke went to start it up and no water coming out I think it could be the impeller.
About how much would it cost to have a shop replace it. Try running a piece of heavy weed whipper line up the pee stream tube with the engine running. Sometimes weeds and other debris plug the line.
The whitish gray vapor that you see coming out of the back of the motor is perfectly normal. As the motor idles the exhaust gas temperatures subside and the visible steam practically disappears. In cooler humid weather you may notice it more just like out of.

Changing out the lower unit lube and getting it started and changing out spark plugs. It would start and die with the old plugs so I put in new plugs NGK and it started up and ran fine. When I went to the back to look a it I noticed that it looked like water was coming out of the lowest spark plug.
It didnt look mixed just clear water. You are probably using 501 mixture of petroloil and as misterg suggests it is probably the oil out of the fuel after the petrol has evaporated. Sometimes is drips into the engine cover and you find oil residue inside.
Sometimes out of the exhaust when. White smoke may mean that water has entered one or more of the outboards cylinders – which can cause the engine to suffer irreparable damage – but it also may mean that the water jacket on the exhaust manifold is leaking. A single test can differentiate between the two problems.
