For example if I trim the motor all the way up while off it will slowly over the course of 10 minutes drop back to trimmed down. It then stays put.
If it is a TRUE XR2 it will have the intergrated trim.
Power trim slowly goes down. The motor runs like a champ but there is an annoying problem with the power trim. If the motor is trimmed up it will slowly leak down until it is trimmed down. For example if I trim the motor all the way up while off it will slowly over the course of 10 minutes drop back to trimmed down.
The power trim seems to work normally in the up position but the outdrive moves very slowly when down is selected. Both trim switches activate the pump normally although the pump sounds like it is straining a bit more when down is selected same pitch change you hear when it hits the limits. What mostly causes a slow leak down is the manual relief valve and a trick you can try is to loosen the screw and with it that way cycle the power trim up and down a few times-the leg will not raise but it could have a bit of debris in the system and this could help it dislodge.
POWER TILT TRIM Temporary Down Lockup A problem that takes place in various POWER TILT TRIM units is that a boater will trim the engine all the way up then attempt to trim it down only to hear the PTT electric motor running and nothing happening the motor is not moving downward. Push the trim up button drive raises but slowly and sounds like it is binding on something. Push trim down button drive doesnt go down but the pump motor makes the noise like the drive is all the way down at its limit.
Again push down on the drive. Mercruiser power trim slow to rise. Hi I have an alpha 1 outdrive on a 140hp mercruiser.
The stern is very slow coming up but normal going down. I bought the boat with this problem just recently Im in a restoration project and this has me stumped. The hydraulic motor works fine but struggles and overworks when raising the outdrive.
My tilttrim unit is really slow. A model would really help. Tilt the mtr up and then check the oil level.
You can use ATF. Then cycle the mtr up and down 5 times recheck and see what happens. The tilttrim does go up and down but when left in the upper position it will slowly drop over time.
I have measured the shaft of the trim and fully extend. Joined Oct 16 2006. 12 Sep 7 2009.
I beleive that there are two o rings on that screw shaft. You need to pop off the snap ring around the screw then pull the screw out. You may be able to replace the o rings.
This could not be the problem. But is the first place I would check. If you trim down it pressurizes the outside of the piston and allows fluid from the side closest to the piston to go back to the pump.
That is only when you are actively trimming up or down. When the drive is at rest there is equal amounts of pressure on both sides of the internal trim piston. The engine is starting to slowly leak down after its been completely tilted up.
I can tilt it up and then the skeg will drop a couple inches within a minute. It then stays put. BUT if I stand on the anti-vent plate it will drop all the way to the trim rams but no further.
On my 1987 Yamaha 70-HP engine the engine tilt and trim cylinder will slowly leak down ultimately letting the engine lower to the fully down position. I think the hydraulic cylinders are okay because they have no problem lifting the engine. The trim cylinders will raise the engine even against the full thrust of the engine at wide-open-throttle.
Tilt and Trim Issues. Wont go up but will go down. If playback doesnt begin shortly try restarting your device.
Videos you watch may be added to the TVs watch history and influence. If you hear a slight clicking noise while pressing the tilt switch then you have power from the control switch to the solenoid or relay. The next step is to check the operation of the power tilt and trim motor itself.
All tilttrim systems use a 12-volt DC reversing-type motor that has one green wire and one blue power wire. To test the limit switch circuit lower the OD to the down position and slowly raise it with the trim toggle up until it stops. Then measure the distance between the trim cylinder attaching bolts.
If the distance is approx. 22 - 14 inches then the trim limit switch is adjusted properly and the commander trim toggle switch is working in the updown mode. Swap them and I bet it will go down if it does thats your problem.
Bring one of the old ones in to a auto parts store they will have what you need. If that doesnt work I would look at your switch you should have power 12v on the red wire in the up position there will be power to the blue wire in the down position it will power the green. Mercury outboard motor wont trim down Posted.
On 8119 at 1228 pm to Mootsman. Relay might be busted or lose wire. Check and see if you have voltage at both wires going in the motor.
Fluid being lowneeding refill would mean it. Brought to you by Barnacle Bills Marine Supply. I recently purchased this boat and all has been well.
Went out today and noticed the tilttrim isnt working right. When it works it works just fine. But sometimes it just stops working.
Up and down do nothing. If you get to the ramp and the motor is halfway up but wont go either way when you press the trim switch you might have a corrosion build-up issue. Sometimes you can bang on the power tilt and trim motor with the head of a screwdriver or wrench and itll knock some of the corrosion off the brushes and the engine will then go up and down.
If it is a TRUE XR2 it will have the intergrated trim. This will have 3 cylinders on the trim. There are a few causes for trim to leak down.
One is the seals will get hard. The trans-x stuff will sometimes take care of it. IF the trans-x doesnt take care of it the next step is to pull the pump out and replace 4 o rings inside the pump.
If the tilt trim unit moves slowly in one direction or if the units hydraulic cylinder – the piston that moves the motor – leaks while the system is moving up swap out the hydraulic manifold assembly for one that you know is working order. Only do this after checking the. Power Trim Bleeding Down I just bought a 1997 Mercury 40 hp tiller handle outboard with power tilttrim.
The tilt works fine moving the motor up and down but when the motor is trimmed all the way up it will slowly lower all the way down. Has anyone ever experienced this problem. I suspect the Hyrdaullic pump not an elecrical problem because the.
A 3-button power trim panel control operates the single solenoid system shown in Figure 1. Battery current reaches the solenoid through the red lead a go-amp fuse a 40-amp circuit breaker and the redpurple lead. Depressing the IN button routes current from the redpurple lead to the greenwhite wire operating the pump in the down direction.
