The issue that I am having is like.

It is 85 degrees out here and maybe I just never paid attention to it before but yeah what is your normal gauge reading for oil temperature. In my previous F30 the temperature gauge on the dash was definitely oil temperature - it took quite awhile to get to operating temperature especially on a cold day. The car would even be blowing hot air for awhile and yet the temp gauge was still showing cold. Readings when hot - somewhere above 90C based on gauge - nowhere near center line 100C as described by cmonref - this would indicate that oil is over 90C 194F - so I guess Im within range mentioned by cmonref.
Regular digital thermometer temp oil is available because digital thermometers are designed for different cooking situation including using them to measure oil temperature.
