Minn Kota Talon because it can anchor in 5 deeper water than. Power Pole or Minn Kota Talon. The Short Answer A Power Pole is best for saltwater use by boaters who dont have limited space within their boat.
A Minn Kota Talon is best for freshwater use by boaters who have limited space or want to easily remove the unit to use on another boat. Overall Power Pole is usually the best overall choice. The only difficult choice about it is choosing between the two major brands Power Pole vs Minn Kota Talon.
Talon vs Power Pole The Power Poles are the best choice for saltwater fishing because the spike tips hold rocky or sandy bottoms well and the spider-like deployment of the poles provide extra stability needed in turbulent water. Cant go wrong with the Talons either the only thin I like better about the power poles is if you forget and leave them down then take off there is give and bounce to them. The talon looks like if its dug in good you could rip them right off the brackets.
Talons are also electric so the install is. Talon is simpler goes straight down out of the way. Power Poles go out away from the boat quite a ways.
Was on a boat fighting a big smallmouth once that went to the back of his boat with Power Poles and wrapped twice around the arm. Second if you have Spot-Lock on your trolling motor you can probably get by with one Talon. With a power pole you do have to think about hydraulics hoses seals motor etc.
I know that once you get a lot of hours on anything relating to hydraulics you end up having to replace seals and can have leakage for various reasons. The talons sealed motor is out of the water completely and maintenance on this is almost nonexistent. I am trying to make a good decision on which technology to go with Shallow water anchor or Trolling GPS.
I have narrowed it to Talons over Powerpole and Minn Kota Ipilot over Motor Guide XI5. A set of talons would be around 3500 and the Minn Kota. Noise comparaison of the two best shallow eater anchor.
With the power pole you have to pay for extras such as wave absortion kits and high speed pumps so the price goes much higher than just what it is listed for. With the Talon it already has those. On the other hand your wait at Minn Kota will be a long one.
Price Talon by a Nose. I priced both Power Pole and Talon in the 10 models. The 10 Power Pole MSRP was 209500 and the 10.
Most customers switch to a Power Pole and stick with it. Moreover the customer service just sucks. Although Minn Kota Talons are widespread they have some performance defects.
These talons are reasonable in price. However Power Poles are better than Minn Kota Talons. More customers suggest against buying a talon.
Power Poles vs Minn Kota Talons. Not sure if this is in the right forum but was wondering who prefers what. I do mainly single pole livescoping on our local lake.
75 of the time Im fishing edge of river channel 8-15 feet of water. Im currently interested in the 15 foot Talon which would fit my style of fishing better than the 12. This is a major difference with the Power Poles vs.
Talon that I should have discussed further. When the Power Poles are deployed the part of the pole in the water is about 4-5 ft out from the corner of the boat worst case. Best case is about equal to.
Some may wounder if Minn kota already has the talon why the need for another shallow water anchor that seem to be a copy of the power pole. I believe that they wanted a piece of the action of the stylish look and design that power pole offers but to provide it in a better package with more features. Minn Kota Talon VS Power Pole.

Biggest difference I have seen is price point. Buying a Talon you pay approx 1800. To get brackets and everything including remote cover etc incl installation.
Power Pole will run you closer to 2700. Minn Kota Talon VS Power pole Posted by OhFace55 on 12212 at 301 pm to Boats n Hose I have the talon. The cable system of the talon is great because even if the talon gets stuck in lowered position you can use a wrench and crank it back up.
I am trying to make a decision on which shallow water anchor to get. I have a 2008 Tracker 175TXW. I am leaning towards the Minn Kota.
Besides the obvious electric v hydraulic which is better the Minn Kota Talon or the Power Pole. It seems the Minn Kota is easier to install and has a cheaper pr. If your talon does get stuck there is a nut you can turn to manually bring it up.
If the cable broke it may not do that either though. With the talon there is no hydraulic pump its all electric. With the power pole if it does get stuck down you can always cut the line and push it up and tie it but oil would go everywhere.
If you think you might want the humminbird 360 i believe the only way. A 12 Talon adds 47 lbs a 10 Talon adds 42 lbs a 10 PP Blade adds 375 lbs a 8 PP Blade adds 309 lbs. I think the total difference with brackets pumps oil etc was 37 lbs more total for my 12 Talons over 10 blades.
I chose Talons and lost 14 mph. Lets take a look at a few things that are new and innovative about the Minn Kota Talon. The fundamental difference between this new anchor and most of the other shallow water anchors on the market the Power Pole included is that the Talons anchor setting system is electrical and mechanical not hydraulic.
Some say its a knock off of Power Poles shallow water anchor but it brings allot more to the water than just an anchor. Automatically adjusts to wind waves and current. It will adjust to keep you in place hence the title of active anchoring Regardless it will adjust dig deeper and secure you from moving while your on a hot spot.
