Mercury outboard alarm stays on. Unplug both wires and then turn on the key switch. If the alarm continues plug the two leads NOT coming out of the tank into each other. If either of these two things makes the alarm stop replace the oil level sensor.
If the alarm continues both ways. Please post back and include your engines serial number. The temperature sensor will usually be located on the cylinder block typically near an upper cylinder.
It typically will have a brown wire. Disconnect the sensor from the brown wire–usually there is a connector or plug. IF this stops the alarm then the alarm is coming from this sensor.

Presuming your system is corected properly check to ensure the oil caps are on tight and secure and that the hoses are ok. If you had to manually fill it and you have plenty of oil in the oil tanksystem it might be that your oil system is not pressurized correctly. Alarm sounds when one or more of the following conditions is met. Low oil blue wire grounds no ignition pulses while oil pump motion pulses ignition fails ignition pulses and no oil pump motion pulses pump fails Oil alarm is interupted tone while temp alarm is solid tone. Solid out of oil alarm is always a fault in the module.
Hope it helps John. It would depend on the alarm a steady alarm indicates an engine over heat. If the engine alarm is a series of beeps this would indicate an oil pump supply.
I have a Mercury 60 HP outboard 1991-1992 sr 0D102419 model and the engine hot buzzer stays on all the time. Even when the key is turned on the buzzer is constant not momentary as it should be per the manual. It comes on as soon as the key is turned on and stays on whether the engine is running or not.
Ive got a 150 HP Mercury Optimax and on a trip a few months back the alarm was going off constant high pitched beep. We nixed the plans to head to Catalina that day while I investigated what was up with the motor. My initial guess is that its either low oil or a bubble in the line.

My alarm went off yesterday and wont shut off. First I thought is was the low oil alarm but after taking off the hood the tank was well over half full. I have a 97 Mercury 115 with a screeching alarm problem.
Idles fine but under throttle about 3500 rpm starts this very loud screeching noise it still runs but the rpms go up and down very slightly. Has oil and does not seem overheated. This is the exact noise that is on the yutube video what is this alarm Any ideas.
USER SINCE 11802. I dont have a users manual for my 1990 75 horse Mercury motor but my warning beeper starting beeping when I was out last. I filled up the oil but it still beeps even when I turn the switch to the first notch without cranking the motor.

95 Mercury 60 hp solid alarm occasionally comes on and tach quit Not rated yet My 95 60 hp Mercury outboard get a solid alarm in the ignition. It only happens every once in a while also my tach quit working about the same time. I reconnected the oil level assembly wire then moved the float up and down.
When the float is down it makes contact and the alarm goes off. When the float is raised the alarm does not come on. It seems that its working properly.
I clean everything up and put back together and refilled with fresh yamalube. Turn the key and no alarm. If you have a two-stroke outboard motor you must add oil to the fuel to lubricate the engine.
