Mercruiser ALPHA 1 had a nice shifting alpha 1 but noise was coming from between engine and lower unit. Removed out drive to replace gimble bearingsealdrive shaft bellows EX bellowsraw wate. In this Video I remove the gimble bearing using tools loaned from Autozone Part Number 27033 slide hammer Part Number 27129 axel bearing removal set.
The shift system of a Mercruiser Alpha system is really very simple BUT it must all be working properly. The remote control will pull the dash shift cable when placed into forward gear. The dash shift cable attaches to a shift plate mechanism back on the engine.
The shift plate mechanism will then move the drive shift cable. Shift cable bellow has a tear and boat is taking on water. I cant find someone who can repair it before this weekend and we have big boating plans.
